A. General. Comprehensive health care remains the responsibility of the student’s parent(s) and/or guardian(s). Students may be referred to the Clinic.

The School does not assume responsibility for treating any student who appears to be under the influence of any drug, chemical, alcohol or any other intoxicating substance. However, it reserves the right to administer emergency first aid treatment in the above circumstances.

In the event of an illness or injury during the school day, students will be taken home to their parent(s) regarding such illness or injury.

B. Harm or Threat to Self. If a staff member believes, or a student reports to a staff member that a student may be depressed or may do harm to himself/herself or has threatened to do harm to himself or herself, the Counselor or Principal shall immediately contact the parent/guardian at telephone number and then undertake immediate intervention and make immediate referral for assistance.

C. Medication. If a student is placed on a special medication by a licensed physician or Health Service, the medication will be kept in a locked cabinet in a designated area. Medication will only be dispensed in accordance with the directions given by the treating physician. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide the school with current directions signed by the physician. Medication will not be dispensed absent directions signed by the physician.

D. Dental. When a student complains of a toothache, he/she will be released to go home after notifying the parent/guardian.
